About Steve Davis
Founder of Blink Origin
Hi I'm Steve,
I built Blink Origin because finding the right stock photo should take seconds, not evenings.
When I'm not building platforms, I'm usually behind a camera observing the world.
Blink Origin — every photo, an original memory captured in the blink of an eye.
I'm excited to capture this wonderful world we live in and share it with others.
Look after our planet.
See you inside,
Steve
About BlinkOrigin
What this site is
BlinkOrigin is a stock photo library built around one idea: you should find the exact image you need in a blink, not after twenty pages of thumbnails. Every photo is classified against a deep, admin-curated filter tree — categories, subcategories, tags, time of day, colour, motion and quality — so a precise search returns a precise result.
Help with the tedious part
That precision has a cost, and it falls on the photographer: a library this finely classified only works if every image is actually tagged, and tagging is the chore that stops most people uploading in the first place. So BlinkOrigin does the first pass for you. Upload a photograph and the site reads it, works out which categories, subcategories and tags fit, whether it was taken in the morning, at midday or at night, and whether it is colour or black and white — then ticks those boxes ready for you.
You are still the one who decides. Every suggestion is a ticked box you can untick, marked so you can see what was chosen for you, and nothing is saved until you say so. What it removes is the half-hour of form-filling between taking a good photograph and having it earn its keep — which means authors can build up a substantial library in an evening instead of abandoning it after the third upload. How It Works explains it in full.
The name
The Kanji mark above reads 瞬源 — shun (瞬), the blink of an eye, and gen (源), origin or source. The source you reach in a blink. The design of the site follows the same Japanese sensibility: minimal, quiet, and fast, with nothing on the page that doesn't earn its place.
Who runs it
The BlinkOrigin team operates the platform, and it's owned by Helium22. You can reach us at support@helium22.com or through the contact page.
How the site is funded
BlinkOrigin takes 30% of each sale to cover storage, bandwidth and development; the other 70% goes to the photographer. There is no advertising and we don't sell user data. See How It Works for the full picture.
Content standards
Photos are uploaded by registered authors who confirm they hold the rights to what they publish. If you believe an image infringes your copyright, contact us with the photo's permanent ID (shown on every photo page) and we will investigate promptly.
